Our approach

Independent assessment. Competent assessors. A public register.

Why accreditation

Accreditation builds trust in other people's results.

When a body is accredited, its clients, regulators and the market can rely on its competence having been independently assessed and regularly monitored.

Impartiality and risk management
Competence of staff and assessors
Method validity and measurement traceability
The body's management system
Witnessing of work on site
Regular surveillance throughout the accreditation cycle

“Accreditation is not a mark on a document. It is evidence that competence has been independently confirmed.”

Common questions

Before you apply

What is the difference between accreditation and certification?

Certification bodies audit and certify organizations. DunavCert, as an accreditation body, assesses the competence of certification bodies, laboratories and inspection bodies themselves and confirms it through accreditation.

Who can apply for accreditation?

Management system certification bodies (ISO/IEC 17021-1), testing laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) and inspection bodies (ISO/IEC 17020). See our accreditation schemes.

How long does the accreditation process take?

It depends on the scope, the number of sites and how ready the body is. The indicative assessment plan and timeline are set out in the quote.

Can the scope of accreditation be extended?

Yes. The accredited body applies for an extension of scope, and the new standards, sectors or methods are assessed before the extension is decided.

How can I check whether a body is accredited?

The register of accredited bodies lists the accreditation number, scope and status of every body accredited by DunavCert.
